Explainer / Messiah
1 Corinthians 8:6
yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we to him; and one Lord, Yeshua Messiah, through whom are all things, and we through him.
ἀλλ’ ἡμῖν εἷς θεὸς ὁ πατήρ, ἐξ οὗ τὰ πάντα καὶ ἡμεῖς εἰς αὐτόν, καὶ εἷς κύριος Ἰησοῦς Χριστός, δι’ οὗ τὰ πάντα καὶ ἡμεῖς δι’ αὐτοῦ.
We kept the ASV's wording, in modern English.
Why
No verbs
The Greek has no verb in the whole verse.
More
"There is" and "are" are supplied in English, as in the ASV, and the rest follows the Greek word for word.
Two parallel lines
εἷς θεὸς ὁ πατήρ, "one God, the Father," and εἷς κύριος Ἰησοῦς Χριστός, "one Lord, Yeshua Messiah." In each, the name after the title stands beside it in the same case, so the English sets it off with a comma.
The prepositions
All things are ἐξ, "of" (out of), the Father, and we are εἰς, "to," him.
More
All things are διά, "through," the Lord, and we are διά, "through," him. The English keeps the different words.
The setting
The verse follows the "many gods and many lords" of 8:5, using the same two words, θεός and κύριος.
The words of the Shema
The Greek of Deut 6:4 (LXX) uses the same words: κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν κύριος εἷς.
